Dubai, UAE, December 19 2022: Dubai Design District (d3), a global hub of art, design, and creativity and a member of TECOM Group PJSC, launches its highly anticipated winter calendar on 15 December. Running until 29 January 2023, the d3 Winter Season arrives alongside the third edition of the “World’s Coolest Winter” campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

At the heart and centrepiece of all the winter activities presented will be a large-scale, interactive and colourful sound and light installation presented in collaboration with Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) as part of their city-wide Dubai Lights and Dubai Shopping Festival activation and making its debut in the Middle East. The installation will be officially unveiled on 19 December in a special lighting ceremony, in the presence of the multi-award-winning artist, and signalling the formal start of the winter season programming.

The season will bring visitors a host of workshops to get creative, health and wellness sessions that bring physical and mental wellbeing into the fabric of the d3 community and live music and entertainment along the district’s core. Bask in Dubai’s sunny winter at the creative hub, where homegrown artists, renowned studios and design giants mingle.

Health & Wellness:

Yoga flow

Practice mindfulness and flexibility under the canopy of the d3 winter centrepiece with two of Dubai’s most talented yogis. Free your body and mind over a gentle Vinyasa flow session with Sarah White on Mondays or stretch out tense muscles with Allaoua Gaham’s Wednesday stretch and mobility classes.

Sound healing

Join d3’s first sound healing session on 21 December. European sound engineer, Marko Zygon of Sonic Temple, will combine different sounds and instruments during the hour-long session to give you a sense of peace, wellbeing and positive energy.

Bootcamp

This 50-minute full-body Bootcamp is set to up-tempo beats for a high-energy, high-reward workout. Settle under the shadow of d3’s winter installation and strengthen your mind, body and willpower over free weekly sessions led by Camp.

When: Thursdays at 6pm (22 and 29 December); Saturdays at 6pm (7-28 January)

Workshops and getting creative:

Flower styling workshop

Take your holiday flower centrepiece game to the next level at d3.  d3-based Maison de Fleurs, known for fresh and luxurious flower arrangements, is sharing trade secrets at their winter flower styling sessions at their flower boutique in the district. Learn about what is in bloom and how to make it lift your room when you host guests at dinner.

Olfaction Atelier workshop

Whip up a bespoke scent just for the holiday season. Custom perfume makers, Parfumary, and in5, a start-up incubator by TECOM Group in d3, are teaming up to host weekly fragrance-making sessions. Put your olfactory senses to the test and craft a one-of-a-kind gift for yourself or a loved one. There are only five people per session, so book your package in advance.

SVD

A huge star in the seasonal calendar is the highly anticipated launch of Barcelona-born fashion platform SVD. Self-proclaimed as “a benchmark for those who love contemporary and avant-garde fashion,” the brand is gearing up for the January 2023 opening of its flagship store at d3 with a series of exciting initiatives throughout the Winter Season

A nod to its new home in the Emirates, SVD is setting up an interactable Majlis at the heart of d3. Working with Ali Cha’aban, they will also transform d3’s skate park at The Block with unique artworks to build excitement for the launch.

Entertainment:

Rethinking the classics

Kicking off the d3 Winter Season, enjoy alfresco classic music of a choir with a not-so-classic beatboxing twist under the large-scale centrepiece of the season. d3’s resident chamber choir will deliver the ultimate remix on 19 December as they collaborate with beatboxer, looper, and producer extraordinaire, Beatbox Ray. This high energy performance will blend the expected with the unexpected for a show like no other.

Drum circle

d3 and Dubai Drums are partnering up to host the district’s first drum circle. It is a true community-building experience that allows strangers to break barriers over guided rhythm sessions. Each session can fit 35 people and lasts up to an hour long, connecting people through the universal language of music.

Weekly music sessions

The Fridge, a music platform at the heart of Dubai’s underground music scene, will bring d3 to life with weekly afternoon music sessions every Thursday featuring an eclectic mix of jazz and funky musicians.

Kicking off this Thursday, 15th December is Eve, a vocal powerhouse whose pop, soul and RnB tunes will reverberate throughout d3.  Capturing d3’s ethos of rethinking the regular, leading UAE-based artist Beatbox Ray joins forces with a classic chamber choir on 19th December for a one-of-a-kind carol performance, adding a more ‘modern’ take to the classic holiday tunes.
